I've recently come upon the dissapointing conclusion that the IK in Carrara is lacking. I think the IK is only half-way - childs move parents, but in C the parent can still move the child, but the parent moves thie child, which I don't think it should. My current problem - the top of my chain is Hip/Waist. I want to configure it so I can move the waist up and down, but leave the feet planted - as if the character is breathing or bouncing a little bit on his heels. I know that if you have IK turned on on the feet in Poser, you can do this, but not in Carrara - since the Waist is at the top of the chain, it moves the rest of the body. I tried linking the Waist to some other random object, just so it was no longer the top, but since it is the foots parent, it moves the feet, rather than leaving them planted. Anyone with extensive knowledge of Carrara workarounds, could you help me with this? Thanks Nebula-SNS Supernova Studios

No, not boning, IK. Boning deforms the vertexs within a given influence field, like in Poser. IK is the reverse calculation of how a limb moves when the extemity [hands, feet] move. Nebula Supernova Stuidos
