A possible Cring problem. I'm working on a walk for the cring. It's starting to look good. But I found something that may be a problem in the Cring character. See the picture: zRotate for the left foot. Some joint parameters may be wrong? The right foot seems to be OK. I noticed that in the left and right foot, the parameters are in a different order... Right Foot, last 3 parameters are: yRotate, zRotate, xRotate Left Foot, last 3 parameters are: zRotate, yRotate, xRotate By itself this is only a cosmetic problem (although it fooled me when I was trying to switch left and right in a pose). But maybe it means that the joint parameters were mixed up too? [twillis, I hope you don't mind public communication like this... here I know I can include a picture]

No, I don't mind. I want to know about stuff like this. It does look like I've messed up the joint parameters. The joint order for the Left Foot should definitely be yzx. Changing the order in the Joint Editor fixes the problem. Good catch, doozy. I will repair the file and reupload tonight when I get home from work. I'll also create a patch containing just the corrected cr2 files so people don't have to download the whole thing. Thanks for the catch, doozy, and thanks for letting me know. Don't hestitate to post here if you find something else. --Terri

OK, I have corrected the bad Cring.zip file, so anyone who downloads Cring after today should not have weird problems with the left foot. I have also uploaded a patch over in free stuff containing just the corrected cr2 files. Just copy these files over the old ones in the Cring character Library, and you should be all set. Thanks again doozy for catching this one.

Oh, yeah, I forgot to add: be sure to let me know if this fix doesn't work for you. --Terri

Wow, that was fast! Now I have to see if I can use the patches to fix my PZ3 file. Yeah, I should be able to run a diff on the old vs. new CR2s, then just change that part of the PZ3.

Eeek. Sorry, I hadn't considered the differences of other version of Poser. My bad. Maybe if your fix works, we could post your corrected PZ3 files to Freestuff as well. I could always host it, if you're interested. Just a thought. I just don't want anyone to have to download that ~1MB obj file twice.

A PZ3 file is a scene that I made using the Cring characters from the CR2 files. But unfortunately, when you change a CR2 file it does not change any PZ3s you made using it. But I can probably use the Poser single-check from the CR2 library to replace the old character with the new one.

It seems there is still something with the left foot. xRotate 45 is different for the left than for the right.

twillis posted Fri, 06 July 2001 at 12:52 PM

Well, rats. Probably need to tweak the joint parameters, to make sure they match the right foot. Sorry about that. I'll try and get a fix for it tonight. Thanks for letting me know.

I've fixed and re-uploaded the patch (and corrected the original file as well). Sorry about that, everybody. Let me know if you guys find any other bugs. --Terri
