This is one file, of about 6 that im working on. Its 250+ megs, 600 dpi. At the moment (and for the past several days), I've been cutting out, erasing, and partially erasing every little space between each wires, so i can pump it onto another pic or 6. Just begin to imagine what the hell it is Im working on.....

Why don't you just redraw the wires? won't it be easier? I thought you could free hand draw a color with a certain pattern in PS? Bsteph

Oh yeah, i definitely could. Several reasons why i dont... 1- It wont give the look and feel i want. I don't want that realistic/oviously-done-on-a-computer wire look. Kinda like photoshop painted from scratch drawings. They look fricking great, but they obviously weren't photographed, nor was any actualy paint on canvas used. 2- If ya look at the pic (which has come some ways in the past 2 hours), the amount of layering that would be needed would be uncanny. Wires shifting above and below the other like 20 times each, and there are a lot of wires lol! Also, drawing those wires, while also taking everything i just said into account, in a resolution of 600 dots per inch would be extremely painful, and carpal tunnel syndrome is not on my list of "wants before the age of 50." 3- Drawing it by hand would take away all the imperfections, which i actaully wanna keep. 4- It's a dick thing, bigger=better. Mainly, reason number 2 is the reason that (I feel) i think this way would be easier. the other ones are reasons why I really just want the overall look and randomness that comes with dumping all those wires under my scanner and waiting 20 minutes for a 600 dpi re-scan. then again, one never knows, maybe this whole thing is one big fawk up that's gonna happen when it's "done", maybe not. We shall see. ry

Lots of translucent parts, as well as full on transparencies. Much work put in, though it aint done justice with a screen shot. Still, its nearly 4am, Im bored, and I gotta be up around 10 to spend therest of the day biking (I'd say I got a good 3 hours of biking, and if i aint biking then Im walking/running tomorrow, simply because , well, moeny/banks/past-employers/etc are callin'...). My foot is numb. ry

Now that you are probably done with this daunting task. You probably could have chosen the magic wand set at default, clicked the white background. then went to selection>similar. This might not have done a complete job but all you would have had to do is clean it up a bit. Oh, well cant wait to see the final.

actually, because of the depth of the wires, the white background was not level and flat as it normally is, so when the light scanned the image, the background had many varying shades of grey (as ya'll can see in the pics). Also, the wires created many random shadows which also creates havoc for the magic wand. The way I figured it, I could get the wand to take away most of the space between the wires so I could clean up the rest after, but I might as well just save time and do it all by hand. It's daunting, and no I'm not done (that last pic represents about 10+ hours of cutting and erasing). Still, this is only a small part of it all, and when the final thing iss done, it better look good dammit... ry
