Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 29 1:45 am)
I personally love the Pro Pack. And the reason I love it is related to the same reason you hate it I believe. In the non-proppack version, Poser uses the .rsr files that are stored with the .obj in order to load geometry faster. The catch is that anytime you replace the .obj, you have to quite Poser and delete the .rsr so that Poser can build a new .rsr based on the new .obj. With pro-pack, it just reads geometry straight from the .obj file. For me, this makes things so much easier when developing new characters... it's not a big fancy feature, but it's my personal favorite. The problems you described seem a little extreme. Make sure you install Pro-Pack on top of an un-patched version of Poser 4 and then get the latest patch (SR2) from curiouslabs.com and run that. Also, did you select the option for compressed cr2's? Hope this helps.

I got the Pro Pack a couple of weeks ago, and was a bit disappointed that the "setup room" did not offer mesh modifying or special morphing tools, as I had (obviously wrongly) assumed. Anyway, my question is that since installing it, many of my characters (P4 figures and DAZ's Michael) take MUCH longer to load, and some won't load at all - the program just stops responding even after a fresh reboot and re-launch of Poser with an empty set - just trying to load a single figure. Before, with the standard Poser 4 I successfully rendered a scene with 8 to 9 Michale variations all with very high res textures and transparancies applied and never had a problem. Now I am lucky to get one or two figures in without crashing. I'm very disappointed, and don't wish to knock the product, but is anybody else having problems with the Pro Pack?
