Since they apear to consist of primitives, is it too primitive? That doesn't bode well for closeups.

From what 3D world mag said (and they could be wrong, I'm still waiting for my copy)the trees are using 'metaball' technology, which is pretty good for doing organics. (not my first choice, but not the worst either).

Althought I'm not thrilled about Bryce 5, I have to admit that the Tree Lab is pretty good. I messed around on one of my clients copies of version 5 and the trees were impressive. I'd give the tree lab an 8.3 out of 10. Compared to the trees in Vue D'Espirit they are great. I don't think you will be disappointed with the tree's though. [There is that better? I'm not knocking Bryce! And I'm being serious, I do like the Tree Lab].LOL kaom

lol Kaom :) a much better side of you. Of all the improvements in Bryce 5 the tree lab is perhaps the most handy of them all. while (like the rest of Bryce) the default settings leave something to be desired. Getting good looking accurate trees is fun to do. To see what the default trees look like you can go here. It is a work in progress (thankyou Hinchu) where people will be posting the settings to make better looking trees. http://www.hinchu.com/tuts/trees/

I have a lot of Bryce 5 images using trees and bushes and weeds I've made from trees in the treelab. All thumbnailed for your convenience: http://www.thecricketcage.com/new.html Check them out and tell me they're better than Vue LOL Spit
