When I go to the edit menu the "export object" option is not highlighted, why does it happens? How can I export object in a format different from .obp? Thank all for any answer. Vasquez

You can only export terrains and symmetrical lattices. You can't export primatives, maybe someday that will be a reality. kaom

Depending on what your exporting, Bryce will export terrains and lattices by selecting the object and going to File/Export Object, Or you can export Bryce object Presets (.OBP)or Materials(.MAT) and Skies(.BSK) by selecting the preset and clicking export. If your wanting to export a 3D Mesh(.obj,.3ds,.dxf, etc.) select the object and click the "E" next to the model to Edit/Smooth Mesh. When that small window appears hit CTRL+D or COMMAND+D and Save As window opens, choose the format you want and hit save.

I'd never heard that little trick before, not even in the gazillion pages of Real World Bryce 4. But when I tried it out, it crashed the program every time. And it didn't send any textures.

It only works to export an obj or 3ds or whatever if the mesh was originally in that format and was imported into Bryce. I've had something that was a 3ds imported into Bryce and tried to export as an obj and that crashed too. And, if any part of it was created in Bryce, it won't work. The only things that can be created in Bryce and then exported are terrains and lattices. And, unfortunately, Bryce won't export mats under any conditions I've ever heard of. Basically Bryce is designed to be the end-point, into which you import whatever else you are using and do the rendering, as far as I can tell.

There may be one convoluted way to do this--mind you I haven't tried it, but it should work. There are several programs, such as PhotoModeler (Lite version is free demo) that will allow one to make 3D meshes out of a series of photographs of an object taken from several different angles. Suppose you used such a program, but instead of photos, you use several different renderings of your object in Bryce--each rendering from a different angle. I don't know why this wouldn't work. Sorry no link for PhotoModeler. Somewhere in the Renderosity forums there are several threads discussing these sorts of programs (most are quite expensive; some are easier to use than PhotoModeler). If my explanation isn't clear, let me know and I'll try to be more precise.

The patch from Corel to Bryce 4.1 fixed some export crashes. I've imported dxf files and exported them to .3ds etc. The only 'weirdness' I've noted is that Bryce export of rocks to .3ds won't import into Amorphium 1. So I use .obj instead. (I like to smooth 'em in Amorphium) Spit
