Put it down to 'Net Melt. Something's wrong on the 'Net between us and them--there are plenty of routers our pages go through in between--or their server's having problems. i wouldn't worry too much about glitches that last even an hour.

I do not know what message you received when you tried to connect but I am getting a "Connection Refused" message.

Using IE5.5 I get the usual white page, "the page cannot be displayed" that you get for most errors :) later jb

Didn't bbay announce somewhere that it was shutting down for reorganization?

I hope they do something about the way they sell stuff. The Paypal waiting thing is not for me and I am not going to give them a copy of my drivers liscence to become "verified" as they call it.... hence, I don't buy from them...I look forward to the day when they will ease up and sell immediate downloads...

They have immediate downloads and you do not have to give your drivers liscence at all. I never did that just buy items with my regular credit card.

Yesterday there was a huge train wreck in an underground tunnel in Baltimore that closed off the entire (and i mean ENTIRE) city for 3 hours. It's still burning in there today, as i write. Unfortunately, UUNet's main trunk line between Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia is in there with the burning train, literally melting. Consequently, many of their servers in Philly are out of commission, so traffic is bogged down. BBay is in New York State (i think), and perhaps our connections to BBay run throught he fateful tunnel...

I am in baltimore and as of now, the water main has been shut down and the fire is almost under control...just smoldering. Howerever VERIZON runs thru that tunnela as well as MCI so, many phone customers are going to be suffering for a bit longer...

I tried to buy something and I couldn't on BBAY because they said I had to wait to be approved...maybe 48 hours. So I didn't buy...if you can point me to where I can have an immediate download, I would love to know... :)

There's a phone number on their site that you can call. I called that number and spoke with Sherri...within minutes, I was able to purchase and download using my credit card without any hassles.
nitreug posted Thu, 19 July 2001 at 8:12 PM
When you register as a customer, you buy the item and you get an e-mail right away to download your item. No need to call just ensure your are registered as a customer. No need for your driver liscence.

well, I will have another look. I really wanted a texture there but everytime I tried to purchase it, I was told I would have to wait to be approved. When I tried to register as verified customer, they wanted me to fax them a copy of my driver's license. When I emailed, I got no response from them...believe me, I was determined! So, I will have another look and see if that has changed somehow in the past month. I am an instant gratification buyer and there are plenty of places that I buy so it's no biggie. But, I just didn't understand, nor would I wait around for, all the hoop jumping.
