This time I left the color in... For some reason I think the color really works in this one. I tried several variations of B&W, but kept coming back to this.

I really really like this--I watched the fog come up the hill through a hollow place last night from the river and wondered if there was any way to capture it so it looked 'right'--you have S (I always think of 'it comes on little cat feet' somehow). I think I would not like this one as well in B/W either. I like how the luminosity of the rising sun (I assume) up in the top left lights the rocks and trees on the right. Somehow I see that more visually appealing in color. Diane

OH, and the layers of opacity--forgot to mention how much I like that in hazy/foggy weather. You almost have to pull that remembrance of the subjects up from the depths of your memory to understand what you are seeing. That's so evident here as you are drawn to the left side of the image--not sure what's 'solid' and what's reflection in the stream--or if you are even imagining it and filling in for what you can't really see.

I agree, this would be a very hard subject to capture in black and white (with drama anyway).
