OK... Even I can miss the focus sometimes. But in my defense, it was dark out, and I was using my 55 MM Macro lens with a 2X extension tube stopped down to f-11. The only light source was the sky, and the sun had set at least a half an hour before I shot this. If I had set the f-stop to f-32 (where it should have been), I would not have been able to see this sucker at all. The spider's body was about 1/8" long. All in all I thought it turned out half way decent, and I learned something new. The next time I try this I will bring a flashlight so that I have a light to focus with.

I pity the poor arachnaphobes who look at this.

she's right there in the middle of the web-neat. Doesn't actually look like a 'scary' spider this close-more like some kind of robotic thing--look at the round shield type section in the front. so, you are photographing spiders at night, me-- moths last night LOL. I did get a neat one--huge Imperial moth. YOurs is pretty teeny, though and it did turn out pretty decent. How will you hold a flashlight while you focus?? (Just a thought) BTW, understand 'paths' in PS now--looked at some PS tutes. Photopaint uses paths also, but since I've used PSP for years and years, I tend to use their terms--altho' they don't have 'paths' as such.

I'll rig up something that I can attach to my tripod. I didn't use the tripod for this, but I always cary it, so why not use it :)

I think this is better than if it had a sharp focus! I perfer the ghostly legs and the sharp body shape than the whole thing super sharp. OR COURSE I have not seen the super sharp one so I could be wrong. Bsteph
