I was playing with the sky settings and then set this image to render. Went out of town, and six days later this was as far as it had gotten. Canceled the print and then setup a default sky. Took 15 minuets. I have no idea what I did but any ideas would be helpful in learning not to do this again. Thanks

Did you turn up the settings in volumetric world? Griggs

Yeah, I think so.

Was it still working when you got back or did it freeze up when the screensaver came on? 6 days is quite a LONG time to wait for a single frame render!

I could believe that you didn't get much if you used the volumetric world with quality set over to the high side. The image looks like it would have been awesome, if you ever have the patience tolet it run. You mighht try checking the quality setting on volumetric worlds, try running it with something less than 50. You might lose some of those rays that your fist image only hints at. Ya gotta love what Bryce can do. Someday the hardware will catch up with it and we'll be able to use some of these jewels.

Also, for you to possess the WHOLE picture like that, I know you were rendering normaly...you need to choose the rendering option to "Render To Disk", this will bypass your video card having to display the changing results of the ongoing render. Which it will still do, even if your monitor is turned off. But, THE thing that will have the MOST effect will be using a lesser seting in volumetric world options as mentioned above. Or, as you have found, turn it off altogether. Agent Smith

Thanks for the advice. I changed the atmosphere and rendered the result. Took about 8 hours compared to 6 days and NO, when I returned, it had not locked up because I let it continue rendering that sixth day and finally said enough!. Let me know what you all think of the finished image in the gallery.

Coming to my mind: Are you sure your machine did not sleep ? :-) Maybe it helps to turn ALL green settings off in your BIOS, or if possible in the OS settings. Above asuming you did it on a PC. Bye, Arthur.
