Hi all, I've been around the other forums for awhile but have never posted in here. Anyhow, I hope you can help me. I just upgraded from RD 5.5 to Carrara and cannot figure out how to open objects the same way as I did in RD. What I used to do in RD was unclick "Add Top Group" and click on "Only One". Then I'd get my whole figure in, but could work on the seperate parts by double clicking the group I wanted to work on. I have tried several variations in the Carrara obj import dialogue box but nothing seems to work. I don't even know what a couple of those options mean. <:) Please tell me I'll be able to do this. And yes, I managed to find the Carrara 1.0 Bible at Border's but it doesn't address this issue. Hope you all can help. Thanks in advance.

Dunno if this will help, but you might try Importing it as a Vertex Primitive, then experiment wilth create only one object and one object per grouop to see which gives you the results you want. Then, if you want to edit the vertices, select the part you want to edit, then click the little wrench icon to go to the modeling room.

Thanks for the answer, but I need all the parts in the modeling room at the same time. That way if I want to edit between the body parts I can select the vertices that sit right next to each other.

Hmm. What happens when you try Create Only One Object? I can't remember if you lose the group names or not.
