ok i have tried thismany time & have had alot of u wonderfulpeople help me w/the the info in the past but still no luck. hey KenS maybe u can shed somelight on this. i downloaded a mailbox(the originalfiles is 3ds & has the "E" button beside it)i brought it up in bryce changed the color from gray to black & added a pic to the lid & the side of the mailbox. now my "modified" version doesnt have the E button beside it. is that because i modified it? then i went to the "Create" menu & saved "my" mailbox as an obp file. i brought the obp mailbox up & still no E button. is there anyway i can turn it into an obj file? i would like to upload the image here in renderosity. i think it looks really cool. ive got Dale Sr.'s #3 logo on the lid & the Dale Inc. logo on the side. If anyone can help i would really really appreciate it. thanx

I think you can only export models that you imported as they are. I don't think the textures will go. The only full exports with textures are for Terrains and Lattices. Your mailbox will be exported with out the Bryce textures, thats only if you don't change it. Once you save it as an obp, it's no longer exportable, at least I think. This is one of the glaring deficiencies of Bryce, but maybe someday it will be a feature we get. I hope this helped a little. Good luck, kaom

all you did was apply textures to it? you didnt regroup it did you, say with a light object maybe? thats weird it wont let you at the very least edit/smooth mesh.

KenS-no i didnt regroup it at all. the only change i did besdies addin the textures was move the flag from the left side to the right side. does anyone know anything bryce 5? maybe u can import obj in bryce 5? who knows. w/that mailbox i finally learned how to animate took me forever to learn that course i never really messed w/it too much either. if i somehow stumble across a way to export this or any obj i'll definaitely let yall know. thanx

one thing you might consider as a work around, is to reload the 3ds file, and then export it as a obj and load it into uvmapper and make a template for it that you can reapply your textures to. I use Bryce 5, but havent ran into any problems with exporting yet.

hi KenS its me again lol ok dumb question here. i dunno nuttin bout makin my own model from scratch. all i can do is take an exisiting model & modify it. so how do i make a template when i bring the mailbox into uvmapper(which i did already).

where can one find this uvmapper program... it sounds impresive.

you said the mailbox was in .3ds format, load it into bryce, and click the "E" to edit/smooth mesh, when that window is open, hit CTRL+D and saves as mailbox.obj and exit program. Load object into uvmapper then goto Edit/New Map/Planar and it will create a image map template. save the new object and the template. then open the template into a paint/photo program and add your textures. when you load the mailbox.obj in bryce, it will load your new texture map with it.
