Hi, I knew The Botanical model of Trillium on this forum. Today I found Trillium site has come back(with delicious Foooood!). I want to buy The Botanical, but there are three formats. Which is the most suitable for Vue? I think 3D Studio MAX format is the best(is that 3ds format?), but it contains less models than Lightwave format. I'd be grateful if someone could answer.smallspace posted Thu, 02 August 2001 at 1:57 AM
As we speak, the final touches are being applied to a new version of The Botanical which will include faster rendering plants and the following formats: 3DS Studio 3DS Wavefront OBJ Truespace COB and...drum roll, please... VUE d'ESPRIT 4 VOB! All will be, "ready to render". AND...2nd drum roll... ...available at a reduced price! Now, in order to significantly reduce the files sizes and render times, the textures have been reduced in size. Personally, I haven't seen any difference in quality, but if you wish, the original Botanical CD's will still be available in Max, Lightwave and Autocad formats at the original price. Have patience, it's almost done! -SMT

Thank you very much for quick response. Hm, I know The Botanical VOB version project, and am interested in it. When does it release? OK, I'll wait..'reduced price' sounds very nice,too...

Great news, Steve! Do you know, will all the formats be available on the CD, or will we need to select one format when buying? I wouldn't mind having the 3DS along with the VOB, but if just one, I'd have to go with the VOB. And hey, are you working on their food collection yet? ::hoping for dinner on the table with the flowers:: :)

I am just wondering why they can't have the various format on one CD? Its very limited just to have VOB. If you are a Bryce user too...you have to get another format. Even if its cheaper, the two gonna add up and it may cost up to $149.00...well, something for myself just to think about.

Narf! :) In my discussions with Cindy at Trillium, the idea was to cut down on product cost by cutting down on the number of different CD's. That lead to the idea of 2 CD's: the "standard edition" with 3DS, OBJ, COB, and VOB, and the "pro edition" with Max, Lightwave and Maya, using larger texture maps. As far as the food CD... hey! Give me a break!...I haven't even had a chance to write the "readme" texts the the new versions, yet :) -SMT

Yeah, the standard edition sounds appealing, specially with the reduced price thing...

Oh gosh, more good news there, Steve! Gimme standard and wheehooo! :D And okay, I'll be patient a little longer for the food items..... How about now? ;)
