Well, I just had to say it...It would be fun to have an east coast party too... I would be happy to host it at my house (the party, not the sleeping arrangements except for 2 people tops)...I am in Maryland...Would love to do it if there are any others interested! :)

I'm game. I've found a bunch of members who are in the northeast, so we have to take that account as well. Granted Ive also seen a bunch of members from FL, but hey, they have all those bigass hotels, so... :)
Bia posted Mon, 06 August 2001 at 6:15 PM
yes, I just wanted to get a discussion going...I just figured I am lucky enough to be in the middle! :)
amp-three posted Mon, 06 August 2001 at 6:18 PM
True... I'm just curious to see if there are enough people on this side of the Mississippi to make it worthwhile...

Hot $#!+, this could actually work... yeah just spread the word and the address to this post. This would be really cool to have. I'll certainly put my fair share in to see it happen.

amp-three posted Tue, 07 August 2001 at 1:17 PM
I'm in the northeast, you wont find me unless you have a magnifying glass. We seem to have a NY crowd forming.... so i dunno whatwe can do about that. KY is a long drive from certain parts of NY, especially Ithaca... I'm not in NY, but its prolly just a long of a drive for me. Its probably (actually it is) a shorter drive if you are coming from FL. The setup that you have though Phil is quite tempting though. We are probably going to have to do a repost to try and get more East Coast people into this loop. I cant believe we would be the only ones on this side of the States.

Howsabout the New Yorkers migrate together? There's enough to fill a van I think :) And speaking of which I'm thinking of having an Art Party sometime in Sept - and I'm in Queens, so .... :) Lyrra
amp-three posted Tue, 07 August 2001 at 4:31 PM
Ever been in a van with NYers? It can get quite ugly. Especially when you bring up baseball. ;)

amp-three posted Wed, 08 August 2001 at 1:22 AM
Heh heh, I was kidding... but you can only have so many people (from any state) traveling together in a van during heat waves, etc. will drive them to, well, Hell. :) But yes, we have to set this get-together up, and yes, carpooling is good, but insanity shouldnt be too much of a factor in all of this. But since I'm already insane, I get off on the technicality. :)
Lyrra posted Wed, 08 August 2001 at 5:32 AM
That will be an invite - will post NY art party announcement later. Probably not until Sept - so my airconditioner doesn't expire of overwork. This weather is absolutely disgusting. :P My coworker was smugly explaining that it was cooler in Miami. And that's just wrong. Since most New Yorkers (including me) are at the whims of mass transit - arranging a carpool seems like a good idea IMHO. At the very least us new yorkers should try for a museum trip at some point. Gods know we have plenty to choose from. Which all have magnificent air conditioning. A totally OT question - amp3 Why/how is your text blue? :)
amp-three posted Wed, 08 August 2001 at 3:41 PM
Lyrra, its a trade secret, but an extremely simple one. muhahahaha. ;) Anyway, I dont think a museum is the best way to go. The west coast (specifically Cali) is/was sorta planning the same type of thing, and a BBQ was the main theme that they were going for. Which is prolly the best way to go. It lets you get to know your fellow ROers better IMHO. Sure its all about art here, so an art museum would be fitting, but we see that here all the time. What we dont get to see are the individuals behind the screen names that make that artwork. Just my two cents.

I'm seeing a recurring vote for Massachusetts.. were having enough ppl from NY that it wouldnt be too nice to have them travel 5 states for this shindig. I'd do NY (so long as it isnt too upstate), but Maryland wouldnt exactly hit the top of the list for location in my book (or the NYers).
Bia posted Thu, 09 August 2001 at 2:13 PM
okay, well, I hope it works out! NYC is my limit for travel North. Whatever the case, I am certain it will be fun for whoever goes. If any mid atlantic and southeasterners want to meet here in Maryland, I am happy to host. And any excuse to go to Florida or South Carolina would get me to travel (hint hint)! well I don't drive(have a lead foot), and I don't fly(have a fear of heights)...so my travel radius is tiny...plus lugging a 100lb rottie puppy around is much fun, but I can't bear to leave him...I managed to talk my sweety into driving me as far south as southern georgia once, and as far north as virginia...but with two kids and a dog I don't manage to go far from home.

Dementia... you sound EXACTLY like me. I thought I was talking! I have too many animals and they ARE my children. I hate leaving them. I developed an irrational fear of flying about 10 years ago and, after flying all around the world, I am scared to death now. I hate driving more than 4 hours! So, like TJ it sounds like fun to me, but I doubt I would actually make one unless it was within the drive time, or maybe in Florida. That would depend where in Florida...I can get tranquilizers and fly if I really want to get somewhere. :)
