I make my own texture with 2000x2000 resolution with photoshop. File PSD format which consume about 24 MB. It frequently make my PC automatically boot itself everytime when I open the file. Are there anybody that ever have this problem or of someone know how to handle this, please advice. my PC spec is pentium III 667 with 256 MB RAM Thanks for advice

your pc should be handling this file size correctly. 24 mb is not that big. there must be something wrong with pshop... check your preferences (which version are you using?) about vm. maybe you'll have to reinstall it again :-(

thanks aleks, I use Version 6.01. I already install more than 3 times, but it still the same. I have no idea at all. I made my preferrence for scratch disk at drive C which available for 9GB.

sorry, pp, no idea... last try: is your pc overclocked on 667 mhz? is it the same when you doubleclick it or when you open it from the menue? i had trouble with pshop 6 opening eps files (that was on mac, though), shutting itself down or freezing, but that it'll reset your computer, hmmm... post your question in photoshop forum, maybe they'll know more...

My PC is not overclocked. But something I forgot to tell you is that sometimes when I open the same file, it doesn't reset everytime. Sometime I success, but most of the time, if fails. by the way, thank you very much for your advice. And I will post at Photoshop forum then. thanks

pp, I noticed that you mention that you have the scratch disk located on drive C. If the scratch disk is located on the same drive as your OS then it can cause stability problems. Adobe recommends that the scratch disk is located on a different partition than the one used by your OS. Hope that helps, Cheers

Try saving a copy as a high quality JPEG and using that one in Poser. I've seen Poser have problems with big Photoshop files with many layers, which yous must have, as a raw size for 2000 x 2000 is about 11 Mb. Keep the Photoshop version to make changes, use a JPEG copy in Poser.

I have heard of this with other MS applications from time to time (ie. Outlook, IE, and ??) As I do phone support I usually don't get to hear the final outcome if the user does not call back, however this one did throw several of us techs through a loop. One thought was that the CPU may be over-heating. Check your fans and ports, run a diagnostics on the CPU temp. The other thought was that the O/S is becoming unstable, why this would effect only a particular program no one could answer. As for un-install and re-installing, you might make sure the Registery is wiped of any keys for the suspected program as well. Microsoft is natorious of leaving things behind and Not Replacing those files when the re-installed is performed. I'd be very courious to know what you finally find out. Good Luck.

I really have to say Thank you for every one that try to help. To Cheers, My scratch disk is on C as you think, Then I will switch it to Drive D as you recommend, I also hope this help :). To Jim Burton, I work in PSD format only for the WIP images, but for final use in poser I save it as JPEG as your advice. To ClintH, my os is win98. And for igohigh, thanks for you information.

Hmm...I run Win98SE on a PIII 775Mhz with 256mb RAM. I have no stability problems and I have been known to run Carrara, Poser, UV Mapper, Paint Shop Pro, Outlook and Internet Explorer at the same time...no problems. If the PC is doing a warm boot..meaning it is just powering down and then coming back up by itself without errors you might be having power issues? Does it only happen when using PShop? I had problems with Win98. Went wo Win98SE and that made a world of difference. Clint
