Anyone know how to make an object appear and disappear in an animation? For example, I want to have a plant appear at a certain point of the animation but don't want it there in the main movie. In the animation above, I hid the planet behind a rock, but would rather just have it show up at the right time.

Edit frame by frame using the time line. That scroll bar at the bottom when you are animating. Hope that helps.

Or try making the object not visible. In the attributes menu for that object, I think you can do that there. Or you can increase the transparancy all the way up so that its invisible and then decrease it over time to have the object "fade in". I haven't actually done this, but I think they'll work. Hope this helps.

Thats correct go onto the materials lab of the object and set its transparency %100 making it invisible over the course of the animation reduce the transparency until the object is fully visible you can even adjust the event curve in the advanced motion lab to make this occur at any point you choose in your animation

Thanks, tried the hidden attribute - no good. Tried the frame by frame scroll bar to insert or remove an object at particular intervals, no good. But I didn't try the transparency trick. Will have to play with it. I guess the other way is to make several animations and splice them together.

Unfortunately Bryce cannot make objects physically appear and disappear. Like the previous writers mentioned you need tricks. The transparency one works very well but if you don't want it to fade in and out you need one more trick. Make sure that the last frame before the object is supposed to appear is keyframed so there is no transition effect between 100% trans and 100% vis. I had to use this many, many times and although it it a royal bugger it works.
