Hi everybody I wonder which 3D program would be the best to work with Poser. I love Bryce but the Bryce import is very hard work with a lot of problem. I use Bryce 4.01 Do the Bryce 5 bring some good tools to make obj import easy? Nothing is written about this at Corel site.

The answer is.......VUE d'esprit4! It imports poser, without any problems, EXCEPT bum. files. This example is done, totally in Vue4, using PhotoImpact only, as the program to do the image of "Kenny Rodgers in the background and my signature on the bottom right hand corner. Believe, me, you will not be sorry if you choose this. You DO NOT have to import Poser files as Wavefront obj.s, you can import just as they are. I agree I just got Vue 4 and my poser figure went in without a hitch, but I must also say, that I have bryce 5, and with a little effort it goes in easy, just have to work with the transparency a little

Vue 4 needed a bit of tweaking when I imported 4 figures at one shot, but I was thrilled when it worked. I find it a bit easier to use than Bryce.

If you do stick with B4, here is something that will make your imports as easy as B5 or V4. And even if you upgrade, you can still use the tools to make your .bum maps usuable in the other apps, and to invert your trans maps (if they aren't too big) http://www.zenwareonline.com for VueMaster Dan http://www.zenwareonline.com/cr2edit/cr2edit.html

Thank you for your quick help. You gave me a lot of important information. I am new here, but I think this is a good community. This is very rare on the web. Snoopy Le Bon

Most 3D programs that I know of (well actually, Max and RDS5) will import Poser obj files OK but at a very tiny scale. This is one of the oddities of Poser because it uses a much smaller scale than other programs. One solution to this is to use my Objaction Scaler program (available from Renderosity Free Stuf or my site at www.sandylodge.demon.co.uk). This will allow you to scale up the obj file when going from Poser and scale it down again when going back to Poser. If you are working in metric units in Max (for example)then you need to scale up by a factor of 100, but if you are using imperial units then you need to scale up by a factor of 2540 if my memory serves me correctly. If you are working in furlongs, chains, ells, Angstroms, leagues, cubits or fortnights then you'll have to work out your own conversion factor. Maz
