Eovia is offering a special discount of 30% to all users of Metacreations software who are interested in sidegrading to Carrara or Amapi. This includes Poser, Bryce, Painter, KPT and Canoma. -Philip

I have to apologize for this in advance, but........I have Poser3, I have RayDream,I have KPT5 and even Bryce3(a freebie), and you know what.......I HAVE NEVER had any support! I don't think I WILL EVER BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM AGAIN! For me, the bigger the company gets, the LESS support you will recieve, and once "Corel" gets it's hand on anything...........you ARE Sh__T out of LUCK! Of course, they WILL call you, to ask if you want to "UPGRADE" but other than that.............don't hold your breath! genny

I agree with the above I started in metacreations rather late but I've owned Corel since version 3 - 4 - 5 and now 8 and I was so dissapointed about hearing that Corel got Bryce I actually have to admitt they really haven't done any damage to it but I can see Bryce 6 with only one big change they'll probably make the trees to animate (which they could have put in this version) As far as metacreations there gone forget about em If Evoia is willing to give out the disscounts fine but I see them giving out about as helpful information as metacreations did. I've been to their site for help with amapi and the documentation is terrible. Other then that all the software listed above stands against all the really expensive stuff out there (and the others are very very expensive)

Eovia is not connected with Corel in any way (that I know of). When Metacreations sold off their product line, Eovia bought Carrara, that's it. I don't know why they're offering a discount to previous Meta customers. Maybe it's just to promote their products. Carrara is a great, powerful modelling program at a cost most hobbyists can afford. It's well worth the price. As for support, Eovia might not be at top of the list, but it isn't anywhere near the bottom (where Corel is), either. When Eovia upgraded, repackaged and re-released Carrara, they offered the entire program to existing users FREE (download only). I haven't seen many other companies do that. PS: I was sorry when Corel bought Bryce, too. But I guess it's better than no one buying it.

Hi Genny, I certainly understand your concerns. But, as mentioned by Jackson, EOVIA is not part of a large company, not part of COREL either. Also, the September special (30% off)is not necessarily the best deal available to you. Since you have RayDream (or if you had Infini-D), a much better discount is offered - $149 instead of $399. If you had Carrara 1.0, it's even better yet - $99 for the CD set, or free download indeed for just the bug fixes with the 25 plugins. The CD is actually a set of 2 CDs (application CD and content CD), comes with a 500+ page manual, and they are hybrid CDs good for Mac *AND* Windows and the license works on either - you can sidegrade and switch platform. And it includes 850 models and a full version of Amapi 5.15 (last years last release of our Nurbs/polygon modeler - see the elephant tutorial at www.tgsmirror1.com/Marketing/Amapi >> go to Amapi 6 tutorials). Amapi 3D is now at v6.1 and exports to RayDream, Carrara, Shockwave and Flash. Trial available on the website too. I hope this helps. Feel free to ask if you have further questions. Also, there is a huge Carrara list at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/carrara - over 1400 active and enthusiastic members eager to help and many came from RayDream or other ex-M.C. products - feel free to ask them how it works with Carrara.
