Maybe you could rent a Midevil type movie and get some ideas from the battle scenes. Rich

heyas; lying down on the ground, dead. you dont have any of those, yet. :) if you do say 7 or 8 or so poses, and bring them in, and do a scatter that duplicates them (and rotates them) you'd probably get something decent going. i just hope your computer can handle the load.

yeah, but what i want to do is have every part different, then get some "arial" shots of the battle then zoom in on different battles. So yeah i hadnt thought of dead soldiers yet, thanks.

Well, here's some ideas : Charging... Scream orders... Agonising... Throwing arrows... Helping a soldier to stand up... Report situation to generals...$ Charging on a horse... Falling from a horse's back... Grasping hand on the arrow planted in the neck... Running scared... Climbing Heap of Corpses... Entering in Berserker's rage... :-) Standing gloriously over a victim... Walking stealthly in the back of an ennemy... etc... And there are so many variation in attack/defense poses (it's incredible the time warriors spend in attacking or definding while there is so many funny things to do on a battlefield :-D) Hope this will help you

I always suggest doing what the old masters did in their apprenticeship : seek out a master (lots and lots of images and museums on the net), choose a half-dozen of her/his images that you like best, and do your best to emulate them in your chosen software. Van Dyck, Rembrandt and all the rest spent 10+ years doing this, and even when they had become masters in their own right, they continued learning from others. The mature Rubens, for instance, was once sent to Spain as an ambassador (he was a diplomat as well as a painter), and spent many, many hours copying Velasquez' paintings in the royal collection. If you like battle pics, I'd have a look at Lady Butler's napoleonic battle paintings, and perhaps at the movie "Waterloo" (available on DVD). Have fun.
