I know this isn't a DAZ forum, but I was wondering why clip art is mentioned and prohibited specifically in the Terms of Use. I'm getting ready to jump into the world of DAZ models for commercial use and while I have no plans for clip art projects, the restriction caught my eye. Thanks for any info/opinions!

The Daz paperwork is very standardized. You might want to call them or email them. They may be unaware of this clause or willing to remove it completely. At the very least you might get a revision. It's worth a try. Anton

I have no desire to have them change the policy, I was just wondering if there are any hidden evils regarding clip art. It just struck me as odd...

I suspect that it has to do with continual and multiplicative reuse. If I make an illustration with a model, it might go into a magazine or book and is used once, no matter how lasting the end product. If I make a package of clip art, several thousand people take the art and reuse it, and they in turn can make more clip art.... I have done clip art (Broderbund's PrintShop ages ago) as well as illustrations, and there is great pleasure in giving other people the tools with which to be creative. However, I can see where it might get out of hand. Carolly

I seem to recall a discussion of a similar topic from a while back. The general idea was that if you bought the model, then made "poses" (clipart) for sale, then other folks wouldn't have a reason to buy the model. Since they can get the clip art of poses, they don't need to buy it and pose it themselves.
