Hi,everyone, here is the problems, (1) When I import Dina into Vue 4 as a poser scene, her body and hair are ok but her face is missing,it appears her lip and eyes are there but no head. (2)When I import her into Vue as An obj. her body and face are ok but her eyes are whited out (3) when I try it as an 3ds. file her head is missing to Any ideas on what may cause this,or possible solution? Thanks in advance for any help. David

Have you patched it yet?I had this problem with Mike until I installed the latest patch from Eon. Also, why not load her up from a pz3? Much easier to tweak and less trouble.

cybermonk, yes I installed the latest patch, and yes I did load it into Vue As an pz3 file.I tried it as an pz3 file first and then I tried the obj and 3ds files to see if that may be the problem.I haven't had any trouble loading up any other pz3 files. In fact I like he way Vue imports poser, alot easier then Bryce.

I almost forgot,I got the second patch and heard it has some bugs, could that be the problem?I may re install and d/load the first patch and see if that fixes it.

How does she affect Vue, just out of insane curiosity? Does she really bog it down? And has anyone imported her into Bryce 5 yet? Laurie

Laurie,no besides the problem with the face as I mentioned above, she renders great in Vue,I saved Dina as an obj. and 3ds and tried to import into Bryce 5 after I read your post to see what it would do and it gave me an bad media error. I don't know what is causing that, david

cybermonk,I appreciate the help, tomorrow I will reinstall and use the first patch, the second patch may be the problem, like I mentioned above ,I heard it may be buggy,I think that would be A good place to start unless someone else has any other ideas.

How do you import a pz3? Thanks, Marque

Duh, page 92 in the manual. Marque

For some reason the update won't work, any idea on what might be wrong?

Jackson posted Wed, 03 October 2001 at 6:33 AM

David, did you check the object explorer to see if the head is there? (Click the + sign next to the pz3's name to expand it.) If the head is listed, check the material editor for any incorrect settings.

Keep us informed -- I've had the exact same problems with Dina -- if there is a Vue fix or work-round I'd like to know. Exporting as a OBJ and then importing is okay but it more time consuming. Incidentally I have had the same problem with one other figure - it was the DAZ3d Blach Rhino Mech . . .

The problem with the eyes being whited out may be the cornea. It's possible that the transparency settings are not coming through to Vue. There's no actual texture applied to them, just material transparency and reflection settings. Maybe try resetting the transparency on the corneas in Vue?

Daffy34 posted Wed, 03 October 2001 at 7:00 PM

Actually Diane, the very same thing happens with Vicky :). The cornea has to be set to either tranparent or with a glassy material in Vue. I think the major problem folks are having is that the head is missing when it's imported in .pz3 format. Since this is the first time .pz3 import has been implemented in this new version of Vue, I'm sure it's an imperfect science and there have been bugs with it. When I tested Vue 4, I could not import .pz3 at all, so at least that part of it has been worked on. Since Poser 4 is being used in ways that were never thought of in it's release, there are so many variables to be looked at. I think it will be an ongoing problem before all the bugs are worked out. The more complex these models become, the more things will pop up :). Laurie

So has anyone gotten Dina to work? Also I imported a mike pz3 and his head was missing. I'm really new at Vue, is there something I should be doing when I import these figures? Thanks, Marque

Daffy34 posted Wed, 03 October 2001 at 8:18 PM

Marque, It only seems to happen with the more advanced and complex figures. I have no idea what could be causing it, only that Vue has had problems with it's .pz3 importer in the past. I was testing Vue Master a few months back and it was discovered that Vicky 2 had some weird code in the .obj file and wasn't working correctly in the program although Vicky 1 did. I think these Poser figures are just getting too complex ;). Ain't it great?...LOL. I have 1 suggestion that may or may not work. Bear in mind that I don't have Vue 4 yet so it's just a theory. Try turning off all transparencies in Poser and save the .pz3 file with them turned off and then import into Vue. It may be seeing the trans on the head as the whole head. Just a thought. Anyway, you can still apply the trans maps once it's imported into Vue. A little more work, yes...but not overwhelming. :) Laurie

Marque,I imported Mike and vicky both as A pz3 file and they work great.I only had Vue A few days so I am still learning it.I will try what Laurie say's and see if that works. And for what Jackson asked, yes I made sure the head was checked. As I mentioned before, when imported as an Obj. the figure turns out fine exept the eyes, and I think I may be able to fix that in Vue.I just got home from work a little while ago,so I haven't had time to play yet.I let ya'll know what I come up with. Thanks everyone for your response. David

dmartin posted Wed, 03 October 2001 at 10:21 PM

If you export her out poser as an obj. file-choose exact figure names and when in Vue use the material editor and choose cornea and set the transparancy upto 100 percent. You will probably have to do this with her eyebrows and lashes and public hair.At least this is one way to use her in Vue till we can figure out the missing head. Maybe this helps some. David

I think I'll stick with the easier ones til I learn more. 8^) Marque

Marque: I have no trouble importing Mike or Vickie into Vue. After import, make sure the head is listed in the Object Explorer then check the material editor--that's probably where the problem is. David: If Dina's head is appearing in the Object Explorer then it is in your scene. Just make sure the material assigned to it is there and not set to transparent.
