I do think people stand a better chance of getting the right advice if they give at least SOME indication as to what the problem is in the message subject heading. One sees so many posts labelled: HELP - Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But since this could be about anything from "how do I load a prop?" to faking radiosity, there's a disincentive to actually reading it.

Yes it's a bit annoying, but..............If you don't put the subject in the header. EVERYONE will read it because they are curious to know what the question will be. People use that to their advantage. Humans hate secrets ;-) ScottA

hehehe...well, I am more likely to skip over a "help, please" message. So, I agree, more detail is better.

Like most I have a few areas where my depth of expertise is greater, and like most you have to be a jack of all trades to get by in the rest. If I see someone ask a question about textures, i tend not to respond, also if in a hurry (often the case) i skip over the general pleas. i appreciate the thoughtful seekers of wisdom who save me a few steps by asking complete questions, give headers, and tell what they've tried. No ? is too dumb and there are people here at all levels of Poser Perfection. But seeing someone make an effort to help themselves, and minimize the amount of time others have to spend helping them, spurs me on to help them more than a "help me I'm a newbie" request.
