I'm not sure if this belongs in here or in the Poser forum, but as I have th problem in Vue, I'll post it here:) I created a transparency map for Vickys skirt. The map works fine in Poser, but when I render it in Vue, something is wrong... There are two surfaces in Poser (skirt and interior), I applied the trasparency map to both but in vue it seem to be only on the skirt surface. Any idea how to change this? Phil

Are you sure you have the transparency set to 100%? Alot of Poser things don't need 100% transparency, and it's not uncommon to find a Poser trans texture that has a maximum trans of 100% and a minimum of 50%. It works fine in Poser, but if you import it as a PZ3 into Vue, Vue will only assign a 50% transparency to it. That's probably your problem, and if it's not, remember that in Vue, for a trans to work perfectly, the blacks have to be pure black (RGB 0,0,0) and the whites have to be pure white (RGB 255,255,255).

When importing a poser object, Vue makes an average between the Min and Max values of transparency. So, if your values are 0 and 100% in poser, you end up with 50% in Vue. Fortunately, this can be easily fixed in the material editor.

Well, you just said that the min is 0 and the max is 100. That works fine for Poser, but not for Vue. You HAVE to have the transparency set at 100% for min and max in Poser prior to saving it. In Vue, using the Summary of Materials box, do you see the two separate materials you're supposed to have?. Just double click on each and make sure that in Vue the transparency slider is set to 100% for each material....

MikeJ: I now set both values to 100% and it still looks the same. White is pure white and black pure black in the map, so this should be ok. With other objects it workds ok, it seems to be this skirt :( Phil

Interesting, Phil. Can you post a pic of the problem? The one above doesn't really make sense to me, as someone who doesn't know what the desired effect is suppose to be... Have you tried inverting the transparency filter? if you import the textured model as a PZ3, the trans. will load properly, but if ou import as .OBJ and load the textures separately, Vue will read the trans. maps backwards; Poser and Vue use black and white oppositely, so if you try to change the trans. filter to "invert", located in the "Other Filters" section of the filter library, maybe that will work...and aso try changing the Y scale to -1.000. otherwise, I don't know--- the trans maps from Poser always work fine for me, without having to do all this. If you still have a problem, you need to give us as much technical info as possible, because, assuming your trans textures are done properly, Vue shouldn't be having a problem. and, again, the black has to be pure black, and the white has to be pure white. RGB 255,255,255 for the white, and RGB 0,0,0 for the black.

I'll experiment a bit more and will keep you informed. I import it as a Poser file, but I will run a couple of tests with other objects and prepare a pic to show all the problems. But this might take a couple of days, the next evenings of this week are rather busy:) Phil
