Subject: Couple of Questions?

I am just trying to get into modeling. I have rhino just haven't used it as much. Should I stick with rhino or try a different program. Second How can I take something from poser like a prop or person and add stuff to it. Like wings, a extra arm are something.

Rhino is a good modeler. It is used alot in making props for Poser, from what I've heard. In Rhino, you just import what you want to work on (i.e., Poser character). Ask for the specifics in the Poser or Rhino forum. What matters is that you practice modeling and learn the fundamentals of it. It's not up to what software you use--as long as it's decent--you should be able to model anything you want. Just because someone has Lightwave or Maya doesn't mean they'll automatically be better at modeling. You want to model, so use Rhino and learn to model. They have plenty of tutorials in the Rhino forum. Stop sitting on your hands and go check them out.

Yeah, your welcome to join our rhino comunity, its very nice, I have been there for only 10 days and I feel as a welcommed member already =), and I have realy learndt ALOT on these days...

Well does rhino have a way you can texture in rhino. I noticed that 3d studio produces more realtic models, but its harder to learn for a newbie like me. What do yall prefer for a newbie rhino or 3d studio?

More realistic models? I doubt that. How much realism you get from a model is soley up to your skill. Now, if you want to use textures in Rhino, may I suggest getting Bryce because you won't be able to do it very well right now. Rhino is a modeler and isn't pretending to be more than that. There are a few rendering programs that work with Rhino but you'd be better off with an entirely seperate program for rendering with textures. Bryce is a low cost landscape tool that offers great (if slow) rendering. Now if you were to say you could get more realistic textures and special effects in Max, you'd be right. That's Max's major goal as a "full 3D package"...final images. Rhino on the other hand provides you with a fast, easy to learn, powerful modeling alternative that works well with other programs (like Max).

You can do as Teyon said. Also, you could get UVMapper (free) which will enable you to make UV templates for your models. Then you can import that template into your paint program and create your texture and bump maps (as well as any other your program supports). If you just want to model, stick to a modeling program. Lightwave, Maya, and Max are much more than modeling programs.
