It's not like it matters much, but I'm wondering, can anyone explain why Poser 4's 3DS export is so screwed where it comes to textures and positioning? And why their 3DS import won't automatically load the image files, even though they are in the same folder as the model, like the 3Ds format dictates? Just curious about what's so different from Poser's take on the 3DS format than everyone elses'...

i believe that 3ds format allows only 8+3 names for the textures... i may be wrong :-)

You are quite right. Before using the 3DS-Format, be sure to reduce all texture-names to the old 8+3-Names and to copy them into the Bitmap-Folder of Vue d'Esprit. Joerg

May I ask what a "8+3" name is?

DOS short filename limits -- no more than eight char before dot & 3 after: "12345678.123"
