I was doing a layout for a product photo-shoot & my customer "may" want to go with this comp instead. My main problem is with the cheesy looking net, can't seem to get a fairly realistic chord. I tried making the spline into a mesh & added thickness to it but the texture just maps to the outside & inside faces of the "net" with nothing in-between. Besides, it would still look like square roap. I'm not about to do this as individual strands of roap unless someone knows an easy way. Any suggestions? If not, it's back to the photo studio!

How about Anything Grooves! Here's a quick sample using a chopped version of the image you showed above. It uses two AGr versions of your net, one with the texture map inverted to show the other half of the net. net.jpg Good Luck, Eric Winemiller Digital Carvers Guild Freeware and commercial 3D extensions http://digitalcarversguild.com

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried to do a quick roap with an extruded circle in the spline modeler then added a bulge deformer & I think it will be workable (this example has too many undulations).

I have a complete basketball goal and net if you need it.

Thanks for the offer robertzavala, too bad I didn't see that message 'til I was about done. Anyway I made one chord in the spline modeler, duplicated twice, warped to shape & exported as obj, re-imported as one group and tapered the bottom. Still have a little to do but this will work.
