 Thanks to Axe555 on the 3dcommune forum, who told me how to modify plant textures, I managed to make a texture for fir trees with snow on them, as in this picture. Here they are in closeup  If Crosswinds ever come properly to life again I will put the texture on my 3d downloads page. Meantime, I hope the link will lead to it, so anyone interested can get it by right click and save image. If it does not, this URL will but you will need to copy/paste it. Edit the fir branches and replace fir1.prv with this image. I had to rotate it through 90 degrees to get it pointing in the same direction as the original. I hope someone will find it useful.
