is it possible to make somehow (tree lab, some technique) tree trunk that it is not straight (i mean trunk that is fractal with some curvature, noise etc) or is it better to make it in some modeling program and add leaves latter with some opacity map or how. Is there any good program for making tree models

Hopefully this will upload properly. I didn't much like the straight tree trunks in the treemaker either. So, I got into the terrain editor with a lattice and created this. I used 2 lattices and crisscrossed them to get the effect. I drew the trunk using many tiny lines drawn over and over starting at the tip of each branch and ending at the bottom of the trunk with to get a layered craggy look. The tips of the branchs need to be very fine lines I set the terrain editor to very detailed, but not massive. When finished I created my tree in the tree editor, then pushed the trunk size to the smallest possible and played with the leaf setting until they fit the Lattice trunk I had created.

TreePro is an app especially for creating trees, worth checking out although it creates massive dxf files on export.

That tree is nice but I am not sure if it is possible to make with lattice what I am about to do... but I will try anyway. :)
