Well I just had to get this off my chest. I think Renderosity has just gotten to big. In the last year the number of current surfers has doubled. Some of this was due to adding new art catagories. I still don't think 2D belongs here. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the art. But there are a lot of 2D forums out there. And what exactly is 'Rendered' in a 2D pic anyway? I've also noted that comments on pics are becoming less and less. You'd think with more people on line it would be the opposite. Just looking at my gallery it's obvious that while the newer pics are being viewed, no comments are made. What gripes me about that is if I ASK for comments because I'm trying something new then I would like at least one of the 150+ viewers to say something. I myself do try to comment on something each time I visit. I also try to vote at least once while in the forum. Seems very few are doing that. I think Renderosity is a great place to visit. But mostly now for the free stuff and this forum, which still tends to get responses. Posting in the gallery is about a lost cause. I would like to know if there is a smaller community out there that's simular to Renderosity? Somewhere that someone like me who's just started rendering and posting can get some helpful comments every now and then. Especially when it's asked for. Thanx.

I can agree about the lack of comments in the galleries. I posted an image a week or so ago and only got 4 comments, however, it did get over 100 viewings, so I can't complain, I guess. Although, I have to plead guilty of not leaving comments to gallery images. I enjoy visiting it and viewing the pictures, but I don't leave a comment to every one I look at. It would take me too long to write a comment to every image I look at. I share our internet access with my sister and I have to give her time (she's the one who actually pays for it, after all), so I can't take hours to write comments for every image I view. It doesn't mean I don't enjoy the images and appreciate the hard work that goes into them. Melanie

I think that part of the lack of comments is because there is just sooooo much stuff coming in. I don't even try to look at the gallery anymore to be honest because I could never gt through it. I had to give it up or I would spend hours trying to get to the last post I saw. Right now I pop in if I am bored, look at about 5 pages of thumbs and if something catches my eye I look in. That is it. I used to try to keep up but it was just soooo much time involved. And the term render comes from 2D. .. you are rendering the surface and form of the pic. Knew that long before I thought of computers doing art.

I'm surprised Ghostofmacbeth didn't mention www.big-i.com It's a smaller place, which uses a BB type of approach. A whole lot of the same people who frequent here can be found there, as well, although like I said, it's smaller. Might be the place to find what you want.

I have seen many people posting images here in the forum to get comments. But personally I've stopped going to the gallery because I'll see a thumb that looks interesting, try to load it up and then it will take forever for it to load because of the file size, and then it won't even be all that great of an image.

I'll try out posercity. Thanks for the invite. Let me say again I like the 2D art. I fact some of my favorite pics are by artist like SupraFly and others. I was just trying to think of why and how Renderosity got so big so fast. Adding the 2D and photography sections surely added to it and to me, well there are just a lot of forums for 2D art and Photography already out there. I just didn't see the need for them in a 3D community, though I guess Renderosity has expanded to a 'artist' community. I don't know, just wanting to express myself and find some links to some smaller 3D communities. Thanks again for the link.

Saying I enjoy Art is like saying I enjoy Music. Most people don't enjoy Rap and Classical Music. I enjoy about 2 to 3% of the Art generated by people who post so I seldom bother to look. It's not that I don't believe it's art or that it's unworthy, it's just that i'm unqualified to offer my opinions. Also, much of the art I find offensive. I don't have a natural affinity or appreciation for violence or depictions of humans as victims. So I don't go to see the "good" art because I'm going to get a good dose of the "bad" art. It's not that I don't believe you don't have a right to make such art, it's just that I believe all art isn't for everyone and it should be catagorized so that people who want it can get it. Not where people who don't want it are subjected to it. For example, I have to hide out from my family when I come to this site. I don't want them to think Dad is an old perv. My kids are only 9 and 7. Some things are not appropriate for their consumption. I think it's wonderful that people have places to go to share their art. I think R'Osity shines by allowing people with all tastes in art to focus on the technical aspects of making art. Most of the wild, gut wrenching threads here have centered around people's interests and tastes in art. Mostly I think these are misplaced here.
