Hi --
I recently purchased a Macintosh G3 Powerbook with an XLR8 MACh Speed Control upgrade card running at 466 Mhz with 192 MB RAM. I've had nothing but headaches trying to install RayDream Studio 5.5 on it. It ran quite well on my last machine, a Power Mac 7100/80 with a Sonnet G3 upgrade card running at 240 Mhz with 136 MB RAM. When I tried to install RDS on my Powerbook the first time, it actually installed successfully -- but when I tried to launch the application, it would stall on "Loading Modules." So I deleted the program and all its files, and attempted to re-install it. THIS time, the installer kept crashing on startup ("error 12"). I tried restarting and runnung the installer again -- this time it brought the WHOLE MACHINE crashing down. I had to restart several times and fiddle with the Extensions Manager for about 40 minutes before it would boot up and run again.
I tried contacting someone, who informed me that RayDream Studio is a "dead product."
Is ANYBODY out there still using RDS, and could give me some idea of why it seems to hate my Powerbook?
