Yes, my Land Dragon is done! The texture isn't the best, but I'm sure there are some people out there itching to make a new texture for a new dragon... I would especially like to thank PhilC and the 3DGM, who gave me valuable advice on the joint parameters of the figure (although it didn't work exactly as I expected). Cheers, and yay! I did my first "organic" posable figure!!!

Oooh... I think I might have to use this dragon for my first non-human texture experiment. :)

I feel like such a dummy. I've read some dragon stories over the years, and it just never clicked that there could be at least two types of dragons: with or without wings. Great work Valandar.

He looks terrific, nice job.

Valandar posted Sat, 03 November 2001 at 11:46 PM

Yes, I am goin to work on textures for him. And Pokeydots, since you do such wonderful textures, are you interested in doing a tex for him? 8-D

I downloaded the land dragon, and he's VERY COOL!!! But I broke his hand... the picture above shows that happened... his left and right arms/hands have the same settings (which I had to do manually, the symetry thing didn't work... I think because the names aren't the same) That happened when I bent his hand... I tried copying the joint parameters from the left hand into the right... but I have very little experience with the joint editor... so I don't know how to fix it... if anyone can help, I'd 'preciate it. :) K-

Valandar posted Sun, 04 November 2001 at 1:59 AM

Hrms... Okay, here's what happened: The mesh isn't perfectly symmetrical... the same joint parameters don't quite work... I'd actually reccomend reloading the figure. I'm sorry the beastie doesn't perfectly reflect symmetry, but I -am- relatively new at this... Oh, and I noticed his right fin is clipping the neck because of turning his head... his fins are separate parts, and have a "flap" dial to move them further away from the head (or closer) to prevent just this.

That's great work, new at it or not! And with generosity to match. I've wanted a dragon and now thanks entirely to you, I'll have you. Kudos on such fine work and THANKS! Larry F

It was the least I could do. Hrms... just had an idea... a conforming set of wings for 'im...

That is so cool....THank you soooo much!!!! He's adorable.

Cin- posted Sun, 04 November 2001 at 11:55 AM

I fiddled with the joint parameters this morning and in case anyone else ran into the problem I did, here are the settings I used to get the hand to bend right...

ronknights posted Sun, 04 November 2001 at 3:38 PM

I don't believe I've ever seen a screen/dials that look like that. What version of Poser do you have?

Cin- posted Sun, 04 November 2001 at 3:43 PM

4.03... that's the Joint Editor window... just go to Window->Joint editor, and that screen pops up... then select the right hand, change the drop down in the joint editor to "Bend" and plop in those settings.
