I found that some of the .mat texts I had in B4 do not seem to translate properly in B5. Although they look the same in the presets libs thumbs, they render differently in B5 than they did in B4. Does anyone have any ideas on how to correct this? Thanksalot.

I have a PC and the same thing happened to some of the separate .mats I D/L'd as well. I can't figure this out.

This phenomena has happened to me as well. I made a "solid" volumetric material for use as lasers and lights etc and it's white but when rendered out in B5 they all turn blue but a few little tweaks corrects the problem and I just resave the mat for use in 5. Things like this happen alot with many apps. Max 3 to Max 4 sometimes yield weird effects when brought into the newer version.

Are there any specific tweaks? What seems to work? Any ideas on what causes the differences? In other words are there any specific attributes of the .mat that are tweaked to correct the differences?

I have no idea what causes this to happen with some materials. All I do is tweak the settings like Ambience, Specularity etc as these settings just go haywire sometimes. I don't tweak the mat itself in any special way though.
