All I wanna do is to make a hole for a window in all wall. But no...Carrara is mean and evil to Sky :-( I open Carrara. Stay in the first work space. No jumping to any vertex room or anything else. Make a cube, put another cube into the first one as the hole. Choose the boolean command, make the hole...BUT...THE EDGES in the hole is some kind of flossy. Its like Carrara do not take all the...ehhh...wall-cube away in the hole !!! Yeah, I know Im not very good at explaining, but I really hope you understand and can help. Sky :-)

Try the Spline Modeler instead to make your cut-outs. Just draw your shapes on the cross section & combine as compound. The boolean thing should be used as a last resort from what I've seen. It needs a pretty dense mesh to work with so if you start with the simple geo-shape presets you're starting at a disadvantage. It may work better with the mesh preset shapes but again, the Spline modeler works very well for this.
