This is a texture for Victoria that I'm working on that will when it's finished be a free download. I would like some opinions on it, I have posted two versions, the one on the left is the original version and the one on the right is the same but I have softened the highlights on the cheeks.

It would be really helpful to know which one you prefer, I know that highlighting on textures
can look strange in some lights so would it be useful if I were to post both the versions when I've finished them?

This is a work in progress which is why the lips aren't done yet.

Hair is by Anton, hair texture by N Fredman (thank you)

This is nice! Today i'm lobyying the texture WIP folks for faces without painted-on eyebrows, so we can better use the UpperEyebrow transmaps--so consider yourself lobbied! You were right to soften the cheek highlight. It's better not to put too much highlight/shadow or bump into the texture, but leave that for the render to do. There was an interesting thread somewhere back here on matching bump maps to the texture, too. Looks like the lips are yet to finish. Lip textures, like eyes, are better if worked up from real features. Sometimes those painted from scratch are just too even and perfect to look right. Nice work! You should be proud.

point taken about the eyebrows, I was intending to do a transmap for this one anyway, but untill I get to that stage I'd rather she had eyebrows painted on.

the one on the right looks better. try to keep highlights on the texture at a minimum - for example, look at the Noa tex in the marketplace. it has strong highlights on the cheekbones, so no matter what model you load it onto it always looks the same.

In the lighting used, the one on the right is more natural. In dimmer lighting the lefthand texture might work well, but for most render's I'd choose the one on the right.

I agree with Blackhearted and leather-guy--did before I read their posts. I can lighten cheeks in post, but it's harder to add color. GrayMare
