Basically, yuck, yes? Captive, in the Boston aquarium. With legs, approx 2.5 in across. Apparently, frightened of humans--well who wouldn't be?-- so there is nothing but air between spiders and the public. Praise be to Canon Corp for long lenses. I got several shots, but I prefer this one, because you can see how large the mandibles are--yikes! 531816.jpg

Alpha OK here's the skinny: converted RAW file using tungsten w.b. ISO200, and 200 mm lens, f/5.6, 1/500. Manually focussed (oh yeah, my eyes aren't dead yet!) If you say "fill flash" to me now, I might do something drastic :>b. Syyd, yes the big Boston Aquarium, right on the water--totally awesome. I'm definitely going back, someday, to spend the WHOOOOOOLE day, too. Sue

Sue that aquarium is incredible. I used to live there, and took all my whaling boats right off the harbor where they are.

YACK. There are few things in the world that I actually scare, and these fellas are one of those. Ok, pic is really nice, but YACK. .n

JordyArt--2 or three inches across, with the legs included. Body is probably 3/4 inch long. Antoonio--'Zackly. They scare me witless. But, with a big chunk of glass and plastic shielding my face, I can be quite courageous...LOL Sue

Oh those were mandibles!! I thought they were mini legs or upside down antinae! I think we had one of these buggers at work. I showed it to a cowerker and he promptly killed it with alcohol. It lookes poisionous!! Bsteph
