The URL is for the current WIP compiling all of the goblin characters (to date).Since the little monsters are still a work in progress, and I'm not about to buy the Vicki Goblin to do the work for me, I've reached a dilemma. I know it's silly, but if I don't learn to do it myself, what's the point? Buying it and using it "out of the box" isn't progress and since this is therapy ... I digress.
My skin textures are working out relatively well for the gobs, but I'm still having situations with the bump maps.
This is one of the very basic textures with bare minimum bump on a standard Vicky. Not bad, but not "icky" enough for a gob.
This one uses the texture itself as the bump map. Too much crawl and not enough creep, too veiny. Might make a nice leafy beast, but not a scaly gob.
This is the most recent bump attempt, a combination of 1 and the addition of warts and nodules -- more what I'm going for on at least one character.
Two BIG Problems: 1) I can't seem to make them protrude enough to suit me.
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, or if what I want is simply not possible via just a bump map and texture. The high points and low points of the 'warts' are the extremes, black and white, so they can't be made More So.
Anyone have any ideas or suggestions on improving or fixing the problem?
