I'm not sure on this but would it be possible to uninstall and then reinstall Poser 4 without interfering with my custom folders and files which are located under the poser folders along side the poser files? I'm not sure about this but would hate to copy all my folders and copy back after reinstalling Poser. Any help would be so grateful. jimmie

I've done many a reinstall of Poser. What I've generally done is to rename my runtime folder. Call it runtimeold. then uninstall Poser from Start | Settings | Control Panel | Add/Remove programs. then reinstall. Be sure to have your 4.03 upgrade handy. That was a major update and is still available from Curious labs.

Here's my best recommendation: Backup your runtime folder. It contains everything you want to save. If you have a CD Writer, it's the easiest. I will warn you that this can consume a few CD's. Probably the easiest way would be to zip each folder within the runtime folder: geometry, characters, etc etc. Then if you're lucky a few folders will fit on a cd. If you ever need to reinstall all your programs, you'll have your zipped runtime folder. I did it, and it worked fine.

oh yeah, after the reinstall copy the stuff from your old runtime into the new runtime folder. backing this folder up is a great idea just as ronknights suggested.

Yes, and the neat thing is that it doesn't matter what operating system you used before. For example: I had Windows ME, but wanted to install Windows XP. I wanted to have a totally clean install of Windows XP I backed up my runtime folder before wiping the hard drives, and the installing Windows XP from scratch.
