Hi, I've got a little prob here. I'm using WinXP now and something is wrong. Poser 4 won't run (not that it ever runned since I buyed it sigh :(( ) I have ~1,2 Gig RAM and the prog tells me: "You are out of memory! Please save your work and quit soon. You may also need to increase the amount of memory allocated o Poser" Out of memory? With 1,2Gig??? OK, first I've tried the compatibility modes (95, NT ect.) but this didn't work at all. Then I tried to get rid of some RAM and WHOOPS - with fewer than 600MB it runs. :((( But I'm not willing to get rid of the RAM for every figure I want to work on, then bring it in again and start with Vue or some other prog. Has someone else got that prob, too? Has someone a solution for this?

I have 1 GB of ram and Have never had this problem. I'm running on Windows ME though. Sounds like a problem with XP to me.

Yep, thought it was an XP prob, too. But I've installed 98, ME, 2k - Nothing worked :(( Sooo.... it's NOT the OS, I'm sure of this. I just have to get rid of the RAM, everytime I want to use this prog.... but if you say, you've got 1Gig too and it's working.... I'm stunned.... ?:(

I think you must install the patch. I have also Windows XP profesional and all work great on FAT32 and NTFS.

The "almost out of memory" message is Posers one-size-fits-all way of saying something has gone wrong and the program is shutting down. I usually get it when I try to load an object and Poser cant find the .obj file.

At the top of the page there is a "poser FAQ" .You will find the answer to your out of memoryproblem.

@VirtualSite: It's nothing wrong with this *.cr2 and *.obj Files, I think. If I put just 1x 512MB RAM on the board Poser works just fine - but not with >512MB RAM :(( Got to get the patch and see if it works after it -thanks for the tip I'll tell you later if it worked. Wish me luck :)

WEll my gosh, you've had problems with Poser, no matter what operating system you use? And you don't even know if you've installed the patch?! That patch has been out for almost a year, and is very essential to fix many Poser problems. Hey, you've most likely wasted lots of money just to fix a problem that would have been fixed for free. Beyond that, you will enjoy your new computer with the 1 GB of RAM, and Windows XP. I've run Poser with Windows ME, Windows 2000 Professional and now Windows XP Home Edition. I have only 512MB of RAM, and an Intel Celeron 533mz. Poser works great. Sometimes I get the out of memory message, but that's most often when I am using a Poser file that is missing something, etc.

For whatever it's worth, Windows XP fixed a variety of POSER memory problems. Getting rid of Windows ME was the best thing I did.

I concur. Poser has never run better for me since I switched to XP Pro.

WOW! I've just want to thank ALL OF YOU! The patch worked and now - after such a long time of waiting - I can use Poser!!! :) Sorry that I bothered you with this dumb prob, but I didn't know that the patch was out, 'cause I'm all new to this whole 3D-character design stuff and the progs used for it. Hope I'm still welcomed here in the board :) Thanks again for your help. bows deep

OH, Faeroon, I apologize for being somewhat impatient about all this. I do admit to being somewhat surprised that you didn't know about it, since I see a message saying we need to have the patch just about anywhere I go. Believe me, we're all more concerned with the fact that you can now use Poser than anything else. Now do us a favor, and remember this experience. If someone else has a similar problem, jump right in there, and ask them if they've downloaded and installed that patch!!!
