Subject: Big problems with making a custom figures fully usable in Poser.

I exported and re imported a simple low res poser 4 human model (simply to test out the creation of custom models) I have every face in that model part of a group. Each group has the proper naming conventions (rCollar, rShin, lShldr, etc.) The only expection is that I don't have the fingers articulated (the manual seems to mention that I can omit this), I just have a hand group. But it seems I can't get the hierachy editor to recognize the groups and turn this model into a fully posable one. I have been backwards and forwards in chapter 15. I cannot find an answer. My ultimate hope is to use models built in Truespace, set up the hierachies and animate them in Poser, then transfer back the animated models to Truespace to render. I beg, please show me how to do this. God Bless and Thanks! PegasusJF

It's been a while since I've worked in Poser 4 alone. Afraid this post isn't really an answer. The only thing wanted to mention is that if you're gonna be making alot of models I would highly, highly recommend getting the Pro Pack. It speeds up and simplifies the character making process hundreds of times over. Best of Luck!

Hi Pegasas,

I am most happy to help. You do not give enough information for me to know what the error is, it could be one of so many things. I also use Truespace. If you would like to send me the OBJ and hierarchy files I will almost certainly be able to point you in the right direction.

Thorne has a pretty darn good tutorial on this topic, and walks you though the creation of a poseable teddy bear. check it out.

heyas; i think the key missing component is 'spawn props.' that will sorta explode the groups into body parts you can shuffle in the hierarchy. be careful if it leaves behind the whole body, this might get incorporated in somehow, as well, and that is always annoying. ;)
