I've let myself drag into the tradition of making an advent calendar for the kids in our surroundings. For those of you who don't know when you're supposed to open the first door in the calendar, - it's Dec. 1st. So, apparently I'm in a hurry! *laughing* Also, as many of you guys know, - I'm a newbie!!! Still I thought, - why not use Poser to make this years pictures to the calendar. Uhm... ARGHHH! *lol* So.. there are a LOT of programs to learn! Poser, the new stuff in Bryce 5, Amapi 3D modeller, UV mapper, PHI builder.... My brain is flooding over! *laughing* At least I know Photoshop and other graphical programs pretty well. And I have used other 3D programs for some years... Otherwise this would have been overwhelming! I'm trying to approach this step by step. Texturizing is an easy match (like I said, - I LOVE working with Photoshop). So next has been working in Poser iteself, - and trying to understand all the different file formats. OK... this picture represents the status of my learning curve: 1) I've modelled the elf (nisse !! for Norwegians out there!) hat and the scarf 2) I will UV map them, - and add textures, and make them smart props. 3) I found Rubio's dresses for the Poser girl (poor poser kids, - they don't have ANYTHING!!) And I'll make some wintercloths textures for them... a nice coat is suitable this time of the year!! 4) I've made the snow crystals, - which also need texture mapping and trans mapping (I've only used Posers material features in this render) 5) I'm in the middle of modelling a winter sweater and pants. Uhm... and here is where I am hanging my head in shame.... You see, - I haven't the slightest clue how to make stuff posable. So I'm posing the kids first, - then modelling the cloths in Amapi.... *kicking some pebbles* I might be able to figure that one out by next year. *laughing* But... what do you guys think??? Is this acceptable for a Christmas figure for kids?? And, - I'd be more than happy to put the hat and skarf up in the free stuff section, - if I only knew how! *lol* That is, - if anybody is interested! Britt
