Guys, anyone who does 2D work, which includes photography should check out the 2D forum. The new mod Varian is trying to get some things juicing, and any contributions I'm sure he would enjoy. Also, there will be a December theme starting, well, december first, and contests will be coming soon.Maygen posted Wed, 28 November 2001 at 11:10 PM
I've always been intrested in the 2d posts but from this point it kind of feels light years away :) I especially like some of the images done with Ultra Fractal, those are amazing. Bonbon has some intresting work as well as a few others I cant recall off the top of my head.

Ultra Fractal rocks...check out some of Opa's work, very nice stuff. (I've done a couple of modest efforts too.) Download from www.ultrafractal.com - they have a 30 day trial and then you can register for 35 U.S Dollaronies (which is a bit more in Aus dollars but who cares its worth it!) HAVE FUN! I'll be checking Varian's forum...

Oh, and I've just discovered a couple of other UF artists...omotou and abmlober...check them out!

They both have some fantastic work. I may give Ultra Fractal a whirl. The only problem being that I am terrible at formulas and equations. So question...to use UF do I actually have to work out long problems or are there other ways of using it? B/c all I've ever gotten X + Y to equal is a bottle of tylenol.

Maygen, there are other ways of using it...lots of inbuilt formulas, tutorials, help and support on the program and the web to get you going! P.S. I know diddly about the maths this program uses, and I've managed to get pictures I like out of UF, and I've only had it a few days!

This is great Maygen! The subject of whether these images can be claimed to be "our" works of art is a complex one... Maybe we should start a discussion about it in the 2d forum? But think on this...In Photography, we SEE and CAPTURE images of things/objects/faces/flowers (etc.) that we have not necessarily created...does that mean the images we have produced from our 'seeing and capturing' are not "our" works of art? I don't know...a philosopher I am not!! Keep having fun..and good luck in the simple shapes contest!
