Oy. I have been browsingthe galleries, and I've seen a lot of excellent work. People here are so very good about leaving comments too. These are great things about this forum. But... I find myself becoming increasingly uncomfortable, to the point of cringing, when I see some of the comments. I put a lot of time, effort, thought, and love into my work. Some of it, IMO, is pretty damned good. Some of it is merely OK, but was just meant for fun, and not necessarily art, so that's ok, and some of it is plain crap (which nobody gets to see ;P~) I consider myself an erotic illustrator and pin up artist. I don't just toss a nudie beauty on the page and call it art. I take a lot of time and effort to set up the pose, the lighting, the textures, the props, the facial expressions, and go in after rendering and do post work, to make it the best I possibly can. I also don't generally do an images that I would be uncomfortable having my children view. Some of the nudes here are completely gratuitous, and have no thought put to them at all...many others, however, have had the same care put into them that i put into my own work. Our talents may all vary by degrees, but you can tell when someone has honestly put effort into a piece and when they have not. What makes me uncomfortable is the seeming intolerance that many viewers and commentators have for nudity in general. They seem to treat all nudity like it's something shameful...or worse, easy to do. While I'm confident in my own work to know when it's good, and when it's not, I do worry that my own work will also be attacked in this manner. C&C on technical things, and suggestions for improvement are one thing, but being insulted because I do nudes is hurtful, no matter how confident one might be. When I see people commenting like that on other peoples work, it hurts me as well. There is a nudity tag. If you don't want to see it, you don't have to look at it. Please don't be insulting simply because you don't like the subject matter. Just saying my piece on the matter.
