Don't know in what Forum to put that question - but as I'm planning to import Poser-scenes into a Terrain-Generator like the mentioned above this might be right here ... OK - so far I'll buy one of this products but what ?? I know Vue 4 and Bryce 5 can import Poser scenes and both are promissing it would be relatively easy with (of course) full texture-support - hmm-does anyone have experiences in doing that - and what about animations ??? From the user-interface I like Vue personally best. What about the Render-engines ?? So, if anyone of you have some experiences in using one or two of this programms I would be really happy what he/she would suggest me to buy ... Thank you in advance Schlabber

I think which interface you like best is important (I prefer Bryce in this respect).

I have both, both work well, but I prefer Vue, so see it really is a personal preference. You should download both demos and try them out and see if you like the interface and output of each product. Sharen

maybe you can ask in wb forum about importing. i'm thinking also about wb for it's connection to max.

It depends on your end use, Eric. If just creating the scene is all you want and youre not going any further than that, Id recommend Bryce: the render engine is slow but gorgeous in comparison to Vue or WB. If you need to take the scene further and export it out, then maybe you want WB, since, as aleks points out, it has an export to Max. I work specifically in Bryce because theres just something about the quality of the renders I cant get in any other program. It has enormous limitations within the program and I usually have to build everything somewhere else and then import it all in, but the quality of the final image makes it all worthwhile as far as Im concerned.

You could do what I did, download the demo for each and see what works best for you. I prefered Vue to Bryce, but ended up getting WorldBuilder. Worldbuilder may cost more and have a steeper learning curve, but its professional edition has a better interface with 3D Studio Max than Vue or Bryce and I am a Max user. Good Luck, Schlabber! Jay

I have Vue and Bryce. For me Vue has the better interface and better Poser support. But by all means try the demos.

From what I have seen I like Bryce better. Both in the renders and the interface. I can't use Vue right now anyway but I have always liked Bryce renders better.

I'll be flamed from all sides for this, but.... I own both Bryce and Vue, and have tried out WB. I'd say the best way to make up your mind is to decide HOW you want to make your landscapes. o If you want quick-and-easy, realistic, fast-rendering worlds, use Vue. It has lots of great ready-to-go presets that will give you beautiful, natural-looking worlds with little or no tweaking. o If you want more "romantic" color-rich (some would say color-soaked) worlds, and want to have fun playing with materials and settings, use Bryce - but be prepared to wait for them to render. o If you want photorealistic worlds with complete control of everything - and are prepared to work for it - use WB. This is not to say that you can't have lots of control in Bryce, lots of fun in Vue or lots of ready-to-go presets in WB. It's just that Vue seems to be made for those who want good-looking results fast, Bryce for those who want to have fun as well, even if it slows them down - and WB is made for those who know exactly what they want, and are prepared to work to GET exactly what they want. So in few words : where do you want to put your time? In making the figures or the landscapes behind them? In making lots of pics, or in having fun making them?

Aleks, you're right, World Builder's interface with Max is better than import/export. The best place to get the facts is Digital Element's website. I've posted a link. Look under "Improved Max Communicator." Jayaleks posted Tue, 04 December 2001 at 2:22 AM
