I gave up on free hosts. But you may want to try angelfire. What type of stuff do you post on your page?

Tripod also deleted my site on Sept. 24; it and Angelfire are both part of Terra Lycos. I never asked why my site was deleted, but I must have committed an unintentional TOS violation. I myself am still looking for a free host that offers at least 25MB of Web space and allows non-sexual, non-photographic nude images. Fortune City deleted my site some months ago, wrongly accusing me of sending bulk email, so that rules out V3space. Follow the link for my current site, on my Apple iDisk.Ghostofmacbeth posted Wed, 05 December 2001 at 5:38 PM
Was thinking about iDisk but can't get there from work since my browser is older and all.

"TheFreeSite" has a listing of free web hosts. The link is http://www.thefreesite.com/Free_Web_Space/ . They currently have ZeroCatch at the top of their list. ZeroCatch also has low cost (around $6.00 per month) web hosting. Another site to try is "100 Best Free Web Space Services" at http://www.100best-free-web-space.com/ . I signed up for ZeroCatch, but I recently found a link to WebSytz at http://www.websytz.com/webhosting.html . They also have cheap web hosting solutions starting at $4.95, discounted to $3 per month if you pay for 1 year. Good luck and happy hunting!

And mostly gallery images and stuff. The tripod had some poser stuff and some gallery work but that is it. No clue why it was shut down or anything.

Just in case you run across a free host called Netfirms.com, let me warn you about them. I moved my main site there and three days later gave up and moved it to a pay host. Netfirms claims they offer free full domain hosting, but they completely screwed up my email by not adding my domain to their qmail rcpthosts file. When I asked them to fix it because all of my email was bouncing, they told me that I was low priority/no priority because I was on the free plan. Plus their servers are slow and they stick obnoxious multiple pops and banners on your site. Unfortunately, I've never found a free host yet where you didn't get more or less exactly what you paid for (ie, nada.) But if you want to pay a relatively small amount ($50.00 for a year's hosting) I'd suggest 123ehost.com. That's where I moved to. They're good techwise and their customer service is impeccable. I'm pretty thrilled with them. -nemo

I have had sites at Angelire for years. Since they don't allow hot links since last year I opened one at Tripod. They shut it down within a week due to hits from freestuff. I have the same stuff and more at Angelfire with no problem with traffic. Go figure. You do get 50 megs and it is free. I have had very little problem with them over the years. Very few of the free sites allow hotlinks anymore.

I've hosted my (small) tutorial site at homestead.com They leave you alone if you have small bandwidth requirements. If you are hosting textures, geometry, etc. well... That won't work.

Thanks .. Unfortunatly that is what I am trying to host. Characters, textures etc.

Topcities gives you a gig of bandwidth per month, I believe. And you get your own sub-domain, so you can name it something that reflects you. All for free. Of course, you have to put up with the banners, but heck, it's a lot of space and bandwidth for free. I have some freebies hosted there. MelanieGhostofmacbeth posted Thu, 06 December 2001 at 8:53 AM
Will look at it melanie now that I can actually get to the site. Thanks
