I'm wondering if this has anything to do with transparency 'fall off', etc. When I had to reinstall Poser one time, it installed with all the transparency titles gone, so I have to guess which is which LOL. I know the middle one is the regular transparency. I don't think I have either of the others increased. However, I looked at Allie's hair, for instance, and that didn't either. Hmmmmm. Diane B

Uh, oh. I think I set the highlight to white. I'll check that out. Thanks. Diane B

Diane B: Set highlight color to black, as Allerleirauh said. Or...if your TextureMap is black expect the part of the jacket, check the "Apply texture to Highlight check box" in the material menu. ----kozaburo

That didn't help Allie. I'm going to post my settings by printscreen above. I've changed the ambient and reflections back and forth to black and white, made sure all the reflections are off, etc.--still get sheer bottom with 'reflections'. Diane B

I think what your problem is is that in your transmap you didn't make the black BLACK.The transparent part has to be completely no hue sat or value to work,It proably is just a couple of percent too light.Try selecting the black part and cutting it out to a BLACK background color.

You may still have the Highlight set to white instead of Black. Possiblly you changed only the material settings for the preview by mistake? I've done this myself when I wasn't paying attention ;-) -JH.

Shredboy, Thanks. That was exactly it. It was a teeny tiny bit less than black when I looked at the greyscale palette. Boy, talk about a DUH!!! day--LOL. Also, though, the thoughts about the highlight being black--I had made everything white and that affected it too--like I don't really sorta' know better smile--'specially after dealing with all these things in Bryce. Well, anyhow, now I know how to do a transparency map correctly and can experiment with some things. For instance, I was thinking about Steve Shanks short jacket--I had asked him about the fact that it wouldn't come around the front of the figure (its a 'modeling' thing as I understand it). So--I considered all my jackets but none were short--and I thought if I could make them short by using a transmap, well that would give me lots more to work with--same as some of the other clothing--if you can transform with transmaps and textures, then you have an infinite wardrobe VERY BIG SMILE (and I'm the person who lives in only black and comfortable-- smile). I'll leave the hair maps and modeling to the rest of you--that's def. not ever going to be my forte' but now that I'm home, I'm anxious to play with textures and get back to working with Bryce--where I'm actually working on a 'sea scene'---inspired by Bongo's pic. Hey Picnic Hi. Don't despair you have just created see-thru plastic clothing. I am sure someone can use it.

Storm, it isn't hard--just screw up your transmap a little--mine was off by about 2% or so--looked black but wasn't 'quite'. So--anybody that needs 'plastic'--easy as pie. Diane B

heya; also, dont turn your trans maps into a jpg. not only might it turn un-black, but you wont get an even black or smooth greys. you should turn it into a gif. normally, of course, you'd worry that gifs dont have as many colours as jpgs, but remember, there are only 256 shades of grey on a computer, so a 256 colour gif can handle that. ;)
