This is my version of Coruscant and what I am missing besides the air traffic is spotlights. I want to place several spotlights eminating from the ground pointing upwards. The only thing is when I try it they're invisible. What do I need to do to make them visible? , add fog , use volumetrics or what? When I get this I'll add the foreground stuff and post it. Thanks in advance.

I can only guess but I would suggest making the spotlights infinite lights.. Also you might need to make them visible .... Pesonally I don't hae the patience for volumetric so surface will work .. Just try that to see if you can see them ...Good luck

I think there is a option on the "E" function of the spot lights which makes it both infinte lights, and also makes it visable. Here is a training thing for making a comet - use that as a "bases" for learning how to make spot lights, I have done one just for the hell of it - and just following the comet tutorial and then messing around will get you want you want... http://www.petersharpe.com/Tutorial20.htm tracy-ann

There's another way you can do it. take a regular old primitve "Cone" and stretch it an place it where you need it. then go into the materials editor and click the inverted triangle that gives you your shaders,(uppermost triangle in the editor) you'll see "normal","blend transparency","fuzzy", and "Light". select "Light" and play around with the transparency and coloring and stuff. This way gives you the effect you want but isolates it to that particular area of the scene and you wont be waiting till new years day for the renderto complete. so essentially it's an object and you have all the control over it as you would with any other object. Hope this helps Hawwkfyr
