Many people still do not know about the updates for Poser and Poser Pro. These updates are absolutely necessary to fix some very big problems. There is one surefire way to know whether you're up to date. If you haven't already been to this link, go there now.Angel Michael posted Sun, 30 December 2001 at 4:12 AM
Is this actually the latest version? I'm still getting some newer version errors and I only downloaded on the 17th December.

Thank you. I was starting to get the sh*ts with downloading this file and still no real solution to that error.

thgeisel, If you have Poser 5, I'd like to know what gods you appeased or guardians you bribed... or time loop you've discovered. I suspect that it will be several more months before Poser 5 is released. Carolly

It's all very easy. Click on Help, About Poser. If you have "the regular Poser," rather than Poser Pro, you should have Poser version 4.03. If you don't have it, you need to update. If you have Poser Pro you should have downloaded and installed Service Pack 3. I've been surprised to see that some folks have had Poser for close to a year, and never knew about the updates. Heck, these people have wiped their hard drives, reinstalled Windows and all their software because they had problems with Poser. For some reason they didn't bother to read the current news for the past several months. I'm trying to save people some trouble. I already ran into another un-informed soul within the past few days.Angel Michael posted Sun, 30 December 2001 at 8:22 AM
I just wasn't awear about the Pro Pack causing this error of not having the latest version of poser. Now that I know this I have been up to date for months now.

I've installed the update since it first was posted and had no 'real problems'. I have no problems getting past the Pro Pack "errors" and re-saving the file back to my non-Pro lib. BUT recently, when I purchased Mike/Mike2, I have downloaded a slick pair of boots posted and everytime I try to load the boots (even 'just the boots to an empty scene') Poser crashes.....are there certain "Pro-Pack" made files that perhaps can Not be loaded by a Non-Pro Pack Poser?? (I did try re-downloading and re-installing too)

What version does it show if you have the latest update of propack? I show 4.02.160 and I thought I had installed sp3. Is this correct?
jelisa posted Sun, 30 December 2001 at 5:33 PM
My Pro Pack shows v4.2.1.179 and this is with the SP3.

I have version 4.2.1.179 of ProPack. Is this the most recent? If not, what version does Service Release 3 install?
