Start of a new year and a start of a new monthly challenge. We apologize for not getting this taken care of sooner. Clay came up with the idea for January's challenge to be a city scene-any era, any place. The winner of the January challenge will get to choose Febuary's challenege and we will return to normal with the winner choosing the next months topic. Ken

here is my entry I made this yesterday before I saw this challenge so if it doesnt qualify thats fine by me. all the textures are Bryce presets that I messed around with I made the space ship, and the city (which is one block from a collection of 20 FREE sci-fi type city blocks) was made by Moebius87 from over in the Lightwave forum. Good Luck evreyone....

Any reason why the winner of the last challenge (and I know it wasn't me) doesn't get the credit and the pic for this one? Just curious.

Crakmine posted Thu, 03 January 2002 at 10:31 AM

Just out of curiosity, should I post my entry in this thread, or a new one?

Crakmine posted Thu, 03 January 2002 at 11:02 AM

Well, I'll post here anyway, sorry for the size, um all of this is original except a couple textures, the papers and foil were modeled by me.

The city where I live is always dull and rainy

Ok so I have never done the challenge so here is something I did a couple of weeks ago. I wanted to do a Blade Runner type city, hope this comes close. The Vehicles were done by Ron Cartier and are in the free stuff I believe; the rest is me, Bryce and PSP.

Alleycat169 posted Mon, 21 January 2002 at 11:25 AM

All Bryce5 plus a little Poser too. Midground blocks are terrain files, background and foreground buildings are boolean groups. Lots of little models from 3dcafe and Vicki2 on the terrace. I call it "The Great Metropolis"

The Big Apple, just like I pictured it... Space ships and everything!

My first entry - would have love to do more but my time is consume by work lately. Pleiades

ajtooley posted Wed, 30 January 2002 at 12:32 PM

That's pretty cool... the neatness of it kinda reminds me of Seacrest or whatever the town was in The Truman Show.

Rykuth posted Wed, 30 January 2002 at 7:39 PM

Well this is my first challenge entry, and now that I think about it by first forum post. Anyway the image is entirely Bryce except for a little softening I did at the end in Photo-paint. Everything (including textures) is made from scratch in Bryce (used some default textures). I would have liked to put more detail into the buildings but I didn't have the time.

P.S. this is my second post of this image the first was too blurry.

With a few hours to spare, even! Godzilla by ScottA, cars from 3Dcafe. Hey, that rhymes.
