Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Apr 19 10:05 pm)
Yes - for the Young morph, just find the slave of this morph in Head , probably = pbm-Young. d/cl on the slider and in the morph parameters window, change the limits to min 0 max 0 This will keep it out. Now as for saving a body shape, as a pose file, when it is done using FBM? A pose file will set FBM in Body, Poser just will not save the settings for you. You can save the settings as a CR2 and transfer the dial settings to a pose file. Either with a TE, or using MM4. The channels in Body will not show in MM4 if the file is a CR2, but if you change the .cr2 to .pp2 or .pz2 , all channels will show. The pose file must have a place to copy the dials to so you must add actor Body:1 { channels { } } above actor hip:1 You will get more than you need copied over, but if you look at what is saved for the regular morphs, you just save the same bits in Body. If you have a body shape that you like, why not just Spawn the morphs for every group, save the CR2, and copy them over to a clean version of Mike (no contruction morphs since you are done with them for this guy). Even slicker, is to copy the morphs to a PP2 and convert them to be MOR donor.
MM4 is Morph Manager 4 - a vital Poser tool.
Pose files to set morphs:
If you look at a regular pose file that sets morphs, you see the following =
actor rightEye:1
{
channels
{
targetGeom dialate pupil
{
keys
{
k 0 0
}
}
One of these for every morph, inside its group (actor)
Poser will set Body morph dials just as easily, it just will not make the file for you.
This is a FBM dial setting (morph dial in Body)
actor BODY:1
{
channels
{
valueParm Muscular
{
keys
{
k 0 0
}
}
valueParm . means "I am not a real morph. I am a master control for a bunch of real morphs."
Basic to this - to get the character shaped correctly, you need to set the FBM/PBM morphs from the master dial. If you set the slave morphs yourself (the ones beginning with pbm-) you will probably do it wrong. It is just a pain that Poser will not save a character poser file automatically when you do it the proper way.
Something else to know: some the morphs are PBM (partial body morphs) like the morphs that change breast size. There is a dial in Body shape 8 , there is a dial in chest shape 8 and there is a dial for each collar pbm-shape 8.
If you set shape 8 in Body to 1.0 , go to chest and set shape 8 there to 1.0 also, the result on each collar will be 2.0. The dial on chest will show 1.0, but the result will be 2.0. So for PBM, you can set them in Body OR on the master group, but not both.
k 0 1 would be a morph set to 1.0
The first number is the frame number for saving a pose as an animation. If you can do animation, you do not need this sort of help, so ignore this number - leave it zero.
The trick is to get the settings into the pose file. A TE is the most straight forward way. I suggest getting EditPad and EditPad Lite.
You can do way more than Poser will set up for you, it just takes a little effort.
MM4 is at 3DCC.

I've noticed that some of the full body morph dials in Michael 2.0 (such as Young) also affect the head as well as the body -- this often distorts a facial (head) pose I've been working on.
Is there any way of applying such a body morph without it affecting the face?
For example, is there a way of saving that body change as a pose file that I can then apply to the body without affecting the head?
