Not sure if modelling is exactly the right place, but I'm finding modelling the mesh is the (relatively) easy bit. Getting the sucker to work in Poser is the bit that drives me nuts. Joint parameters and all that. I know there are tutorials out there on this, but to be honest they don't really help. I find myself thinking things like: "I know you say that but why doesn't it !!! work!" Which of course means I didn't really get it in the first place. Now I only have Poser3 and I don't have ProPack, since P3 is being given away again on cover disk, there's probably going to be a fair few folk wanting to know how to make their own Poser characters/things who are starting from scratch. Just a thought. BTW I think forum traffic is slow cos a lot of stuff that could be here or in character creators ends up on the Poser forum. This of course is because that forum is busier. Its a kind of self determining thingy....mumble mumble.. I'll shut up now.

got the same probz, my modeling-skilzz are reaching out for the first time, but I would need some help on texturing organic models (mostly monsters and humans/humanlike chars). The Problem is : I would really need some step-by-step tut for the first times, and this is only possible if you stay at one Programm and there are almost no good tuts on texturing models in cinema4D...

well there are a few people here that make poser characters posable and im thinking it would benifit all , maybe someone has tried andis willing to share a tut I Agree that alot of people dont really know what this forum about and alot of content goes elswhere fortanetly this forum has stayed on topic pretty much by all the users here id like to be able to get regular visitors here involved in a project each month where we all can share int techn. etc like next i could submit a model and we could all Texture it showing 2 to 3 pics of maps etc I think e mailing the model to only the individuals participating would be a better choice than putting it in free stuff this way we would know all the people participating and make them post wips and participate creating a great learning enviroment opinions Texturing ! would be a good tutorial because it crosses all platforms and usually general rules apply though they take a while to set up also the maping itself can be pretty wide spread what method are you considering using planar uv, etc keep them coming people

The absolute basics: Making a poseable chest http://www.sams3d.com/Tutorial.htm Here is a conforming tutorial that is for AMAPI, but it conveys a lot of information. http://www.smercure.com/tutorials_poser/ConformingClothing.htm THe first page of this tutorial is for Rhino and the remainder relates to Poser Pro Pack, but you can pick a lot of useful info from it. http://www.renderosity.com/~rhino/spiketuts/rhinotoppp/rhinotoppp.htm General tutorial for character creation in Poser is PhilC's CD. It cost money but I was able to easily create a conforming dress for Posette. www.philc.net

Well, I've been on here before so you know I'm after anything aimed at the absolute beginner. But it's beginning to look like I'm the only one. I'd be interested in the ideas above though, just assuming I understand what you're all talking about! ;o) Baz

hello all,for a lot of ppl modeling does not seem to be the problem, more the "where the f$%^& do i start " bit, seeing as how your first love is humanoid figures TRAVISB,why not show your method of operandi?from start to finish, ppl could build there own models, loosley following the guidelines you put down. just a thought.
